Note: Always replace your struts in pairs, where applicable. Most trunk lids have a strut on each side. Failure to replace both struts can result in a warped or damaged hinge.
Gas Strut with Exceptional Stability
Most gas struts consist of a tube filled with pressurized nitrogen gas, a piston, and rod. The Atlas Lift strut, however, has a dynamic damping groove inside the tube that regulates gas movement across the piston. This ensures your trunk lid stays open when you want it open and shuts slowly without bouncing or slamming. Lastly, in contrast to struts that only have gas in the chamber, a few drops of oil have been mixed in to help seal the piston and lubricate the rod. This allows your trunk lid to move more smoothly as the rod travels in and out of the tube.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this custom fit trunk lid lift support. This is going to replace one worn or damaged ball and socket gas strut on your vehicle's trunk lid. And as I mentioned at the beginning of our time together that this is a custom fit part and it is designed to fit your 2005 to 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt and your 2007 to 2009 Pontiac G5 And then finally your 2005 Pontiac Pursuit. Now, the dampening technology is going to provide smooth operation that's going to eliminate bouncing or jumping.
This is going to ensure frictionless movement in all weather conditions. This arm extends to hold your trunk lid open and then gently compresses while closing. And then the nylon ball and socket connectors are going to install directly into your existing original equipment manufacturer fittings. This nitride-coated steel shaft is corrosion resistant for long lasting performance. You are going to receive one lift support.
Now, if your application does have two lift supports, it's a great idea to replace them in pairs. If you don't, you do run the possibility of damaging the hinge of your lid. So you wanna make sure that if these do come in pairs, you do wanna replace them in pairs. Now let me give you the measurement of the extended length, measuring center of socket to center of socket, we are sitting right at about 12-1/8 inches. Center to center that's on the extended length.
